On the 25th to 28th May, Varos Village Hotel in Lemnos, had the honour to be the venue that hosted the Lemnos International Conference, pertaining to the centenary signing of the Armistice Treaty of Moudros that took place at the end of World War I. Marking 100 years since the aforementioned treaty was signed in 1918, the purpose of the Lemnos International Conference was to celebrate the salience of this historic event. A large team of speakers, historians, academics, researchers, analysts and entrepreneurs gathered from all around the world to commemorate the salience of the treaty and to discuss its important contribution to international modern history. It signaled the prominence of Greece?s geopolitical position as well as instigating the consolidation of international relations within Europe and across the globe.    

The goal of the symposium was to highlight the strategic importance of the Moudros Treaty as a historical focal point charged with socio-political heritage, and to explore the ways it could become a resource for local development, while recognising it as a pivotal component of cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue, on a global scale. This cultural event was organised by the Lemnos friends of Anzac Association, in conjunction with local administration of the Municipality of Lemnos and the Greek Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Municipality of the Region of North Aegean. 

The main guests of the conference were H.E. the President of the Hellenic Democracy, Mr. Prokopios Pavlopoulos, as well as the President of the European Commission, Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, among other 20-35 speakers from a wide spectrum of societal, economic and political affiliations.
